ouch
damn it hurts

it hurts more than that time
when i was a tree and you said to me,
“don’t fall down on my room”
but i fell

and the fall did not hurt
but i fell a w a y
and how pleased you were
to have been spared

oblivious to the roar
as the blades tore up my body
those arms i held you in
severed and scattered

it aches though we don’t bleed
and you haven’t slept there for months
in that picture perfect place

but i prefer the etching in my eyes
with you climbing all over me
when i never feared the wind’s gust

or wait it feels the same
